At Twohig Dentistry, using cosmetic dentistry, we can help you to discover ways to improve your smile using conservative techniques. We begin by analyzing your face and smile and together we design a plan to create the best smile for you. We begin by analyzing the face, tooth color, and the shape and position of the teeth.
We first determine if the teeth are in the correct position. If they are, we proceed to evaluate their shape and color. If the teeth are not in the correct position, we determine if we can modify them to achieve a beautiful smile or if we need to enlist orthodontic procedures to place them in the correct position.
We then evaluate the shape and color of the teeth to create the best smile for you. Once the patient and dentist have determined the goal we proceed to make the dream smile a reality.
Bleaching – whitening of the teeth using a chemical agent to brighten the teeth
Composite Bonding Composite filling material is bonded to the teeth to improve the smile by changing the color of the teeth or reshaping disfigured teeth.
Veneers are ultra-thin shells of ceramic (porcelain) or a composite resin material, which are bonded to the front of teeth. Veneers are placed to mask discolorations, to brighten teeth and to improve a smile. They provide a much more conservative approach to changing a tooth’s color, size or shape. Veneers can mask undesirable defects, such as teeth stained by tetracycline and damage due to an injury. They are ideal for masking discolored fillings in front teeth. Patients with space discrepancies between their front teeth or teeth that are chipped or worn may consider veneers.
Crown lengthening may be used to give the teeth a larger appearance or to modify the gingival levels are symmetrical providing a balanced smile.
A crown is a restoration that covers, or “caps,” a tooth to restore it to its normal shape and size. This strengthens and improves the appearance of a tooth. If a tooth is cracked, a crown holds the tooth together preventing the tooth from flexing. Crowns are also used to restore a tooth when there isn’t enough of the tooth remaining to provide support for a large filling.
To prepare the tooth for a crown, it is reduced so the crown can fit over it. An impression of the teeth and gums is made and sent to the lab for the crown fabrication. A temporary crown is cemented over the tooth until the permanent crown is made. On the next visit, the dentist removes the temporary crown and cements the permanent crown onto the tooth.
Orthodontic therapy is used to improve the stability, function and health of the teeth. Proper tooth position improves the health of the gum tissue and reduces the risk for tooth decay and tooth loss. Patients also benefit by improved self esteem. At Twohig Dentistry we use both Invisalign or conventional braces depending on the individuals needs.
Cosmetic Dentistry can give you the self confidence that you want.
